RICHARD C. MOORE

Richard C. Moore was born on November 8, 1924 in Dill City, Oklahoma, and was inducted into the Army in 1943, at19 years of age. While stationed at Camp Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas, Richard got his orders to travel to California where he boarded a ship bound for England. After three weeks at sea he arrived in Liverpool where he was assigned to the 100th Infantry and, as a combat medic, he tended wounded soldiers under intense combat conditions in England, France and Germany.
Richard made his way through enemy lines, with lead firing all around him, to care for wounded American soldiers. He also remembers, at one time, bringing in three German prisoners of war who were severely wounded. He was awarded three Bronze Stars for gallantry and/or meritorious behavior in combat as well the WWII Victory Medal, EAME** Theater Campaign Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal and a Distinguished Unit Badge.
Richard was discharged on January 31, 1946 and returned to the United States where he has spent the last 63 years happily married to Edna, the love of his life.
