JACOB CRAFT

Jacob Craft was born on October 5, 1918 in Galesburg, Illinois, where he grew up and attended school. After graduation Craft attend historic Knox College for one year. Knox College is historic as being the site of the fifth debate between Abraham Lincoln and Stephen A. Douglas in 1858.

Craft later began driving a truck for his father's hide tanning business, all the while daydreaming of flying airplanes. With financial aid from an uncle Jacob was able to make his dreams come true when he attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In 1944 Craft entered the Army Air Corps as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a "Hump Pilot" flying supplies to China, Burma, India and back. After WWII, he flew cargo planes in the Korean War. In 1966 Craft retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Colonel.

Now 91 years of age, Jacob Craft resides in Wichita Falls with, Betty Anne Scott Craft, his lovely wife of almost 69 years.
